Deep groove ball bearings are the most representative type of rolling bearing and are widely used. 

They are suitable for high-speed and ultra-high-speed operations, are highly durable, and require little maintenance. 

Characterized by a low coefficient of friction and high limiting speeds, they feature a simple structure, low manufacturing costs, 

and the ability to achieve high manufacturing precision. Available in a wide range of sizes and structural configurations, 

they are extensively used in industries such as precision instruments, low-noise electric motors, automobiles, motorcycles, 

and general machinery, making them the most widely selected bearing type in the mechanical industry.

They typically support radial loads but can also accommodate a certain amount of axial load.


Deep groove ball bearings are a frequently chosen type of rolling bearing. They feature a simple structure and are easy to use. While primarily designed to support radial loads, increasing the radial internal clearance allows them to function similarly to angular contact ball bearings, enabling them to support combined radial and axial loads. They can also be used to support pure axial loads in high-speed applications where thrust ball bearings are unsuitable. Compared to other bearing types of similar dimensions, deep groove ball bearings offer a lower coefficient of friction and higher limiting speeds; however, they have poor impact resistance and are not suitable for heavy-load applications.


Selecting a larger radial internal clearance increases axial load-carrying capacity; the contact angle is zero when supporting pure radial loads, but becomes greater than zero when axial loads are applied. Common cage options include pressed wave-type cages and machined solid cages, with nylon cages also used in certain applications.


Once mounted on a shaft, deep groove ball bearings can limit the axial displacement of the shaft or housing in both directions within the limits of the bearing's axial clearance, thereby providing axial location in both directions. Notably, deep groove ball bearings possess a degree of self-aligning capability; they can continue to operate normally even when tilted 2′ to 10′ relative to the housing bore, although this does impact bearing service life. Most deep-groove ball bearings utilize pressed-steel ribbon-type cages (designated by the letter "J" in bearing nomenclature), whereas large bearings typically employ machined solid metal cages.


Deep-groove ball bearings come in a wide variety of types, including single-row deep-groove ball bearings; versions with dust shields; versions with dust shields and seals; single-row bearings featuring a snap-ring groove and snap ring on the outer ring; bearings with filling slots; and double-row deep-groove ball bearings. They also encompass various model designations, such as the domestic model 81800, as well as corresponding models from international brands—for instance, NSK 6600, NACHI 6600, NTN 6600, SKF 81800, and FAG 81800T.
